Foreign Investors Started to towards Agriculture in 2019
With the government's support to producers, foreigners were allowed to buy agricultural land. After this decision, it was seen that 104 foreigners from 26 countries bought 2 thousand 349 decares of agricultural land. The investment made by foreigners by buying agricultural land increased further in 2019.
Increase Continues Since 2012!

Since the entry into force of the law, which allows foreigners to purchase agricultural land in 2012, 164 foreign investors from 32 countries have purchased 3 thousand 909 decares.

Since the end of 2017, 413 decares of land have been sold to 13 foreign investors. In 2018, a thousand 221 decares of agricultural land was sold to 14 foreigners. In addition, agricultural land was sold in 16 provinces and liquidation process was carried out for 687 decares of agricultural land of 53 foreigners in 13 provinces of those who did not fulfill the project promise.

There are important criteria for foreigners who want to invest in agricultural land in Turkey. For example, foreign investors can purchase land up to 30 hectares, providing that they do not exceed 10 percent of the privately-owned land on a district basis.
They are allowed to purchase the land as a result of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 'appropriate' evaluation. At the same time, foreign investors wishing to buy land are required to submit agricultural project proposals to the ministry within two years. If the project deemed appropriate by the Ministry is not carried out and used out of purpose, the land is converted to a price by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and liquidated.
Gulf Countries are in the First Place
Iraqis take the first place among foreign investors in housing purchases. In terms of agricultural land investments, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are placed near the top. On the other hand, the provinces where foreign people acquire land include Muğla, Nevşehir, İstanbul, Çanakkale, Bursa, Burdur, Bolu, Bilecik, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Sakarya, Trabzon, Yalova and Yozgat.
