The Ministry of Interior announced the local Turkish e-Passport, e-Blue Card and e-Driver’s License. Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, who stated that they are at the final stage for mass production of e-Passports, shared important details about their project.
Ministry of Interior: The countdown has started for the domestic e-Passport
According to CNN Turk, Turkish e-Passports previously produced by a company in Europe will henceforth be domestic. Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said that as a result of the difficulties of the relevant company in meeting the supply due to the ongoing chip crisis, they have started working for the domestic Turkish e-Passport and are at the final stage of mass production.
It was stated that the e-Passport, which will have images of different cities on each page, will be the safest passport in the world. In addition, it will have a contactless chip and many new items, as well as an original design. In addition, the validity period of the green passport, which was previously 5 years, will increase to 10 years with the domestic e-Passport. Let’s also note that it will start to be used in August.
The Interior Minister said that since 2016, they have issued a new generation of driver’s licenses, which means that their adaptation with new technologies around the world has become a necessity. At this point, the new e-Driver’s License, which uses a contactless chip and increases the security level to the highest level, will be open for international circulation and will also provide identification opportunities. At the same time, Turkey statements will be used instead of Turkey as in the e-Passport.
Finally, the Ministry of Interior has also announced a new e-Blue Card to make the blue card used by citizens who are in Germany and have to renounce their Turkish citizenship more secure. In this context, we are working on a more secure new e-Blue Card that contains biometric data instead of the old-fashioned card.
