In Turkey, in May, 119 thousand 655 housing sales have been performed. The number of housing units sold last month increased by 16.07 percent compared to the previous month and by 2.7 percent compared to the same month last year.

According to this, the number of houses sold in May throughout the country increased by 16.07 percent compared to the previous month. The number of houses increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and performed as 119 thousand 655.
In residential sales, Istanbul ranked first with 20 thousand 61 houses (16.8 percent). Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 11,919 houses sold (10 percent), Izmir followed Ankara with (7,028 homes sold) 5.9 percent. The least number of sales were in Hakkari with 12 dwellings, Bayburt with 40 dwellings and Sirnak with 45 dwellings.
MORTGAGED HOUSING SALES
During this period, mortgaged residential sales decreased by 11.7 percent compared to the same month of last year decreased to 36 thousand 865.
The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 30.8 percent. During the mortgage sales, Istanbul took the first place with 6,100 houses and 16,5 percent share. Bilecik was the one with the highest mortgage sales share in total housing sales with 51.3 percent.
Other housing sales increased by 10.7 percent year-on-year to 82,790 in May. In this category, Istanbul was the first with 13,961 houses sold and 16,9 percent share. The share of other sales in total housing sales in Istanbul was 69.6 percent. While Ankara was second with 7 thousand 600 other housing sales, İzmir followed this province with 4 thousand 737 housing sales. It was determined that Hakkari had 12 houses with the least sale of other houses.
55 THOUSAND HOUSES SOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME
The number of residential buildings sold for the first time increased by 4.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and increased to 55 thousand 502. The first sales share in total housing sales was 46.4 percent. In these sales, Istanbul received the highest share (16.6 percent) with 9 thousand 222 housing units. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 4 thousand 338 residential sales and İzmir with 2 thousand 984 residential sales.
Second-hand housing sales increased by 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 64 thousand 153. Istanbul took the first place with 10 thousand 839 residential sales and 16.9 percent share. The share of second hand sales in total housing sales in Istanbul was 54 percent. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 7,581 housing units and İzmir with 4,444 sales.
2,415 HOUSES WERE SOLD TO FOREIGNERS
Household sales to foreigners increased by 36.1 percent compared to the same month last year, to 2 thousand 415. In this area, Istanbul is located in the first place with 854 residential sales, with 595 sales Antalya followed Istanbul, with 141 sales Bursa took the 3rd place, 108 sales performed in Yalova and 96 sales in Ankara.
Iraq citizens bought 407 houses in May from Turkey. In this month, Iranian citizens bought 217, Saudi Arabian citizens 206, Russian citizens 165 and Afghan citizens bought 131 houses.
